Some self Smithing, understandingn?
This is a Single-32 chassis in .40. It's fine, really. But the gate is a little bit stiff. This manipulation and mechanics have always been a bit of a mystery. I know it can be problematic with heavy kickers. This seems fine except maybe some geometry. The gate goes out and it has to push the spring tip straight down.

I see some angle on the spring tip that might create a stiffness on the break over. Is it possible a bit of stoning to round the tip some would make the transition smoother?
I'm not trying to get the work done, I'm more trying to understand the dynamics. It's functions as is. I also note it moves a touch forward just sticking your thumb in to open. It's easier to take the effort to ensure it rotates precisely 90 degrees to rotate straight out. Pushing on it presses against the spring while you are trying to force it down too.
