That appears to be a removable shroud, like a Dan Wesson.
It has a threaded nut at the muzzle.
Does anyone know?

If the 460 is 1.80 cartridge length, and the barrel is shrouded. How much trouble would it be too change the barrel to a different caliber. How difficult would it be to change the cylinder to another matching the new barrel. I.E. 445 super mag. Or one of the other super mags. Frame window being long enough for 1.60 gates cartridge. Or is that a ridiculous proposition

plus a little style to the shroud. It will look great and the action will be much improved. The gun begs for a positive performance package.

Changing the barrel is no problem. We do that several times a year on Dan Wessons and did it on my 410 GNR S&W.

On the S&W the muzzle brake is the barrel nut so no problem there. We took the shroud off, made a new barrel and put the shroud back on.

But building a new cylinder is the problem. It takes special tooling for every different brand and we don't have tooling for a Taurus large frame cylinder. Tooling runs somewhere between $4000 and $6000 and takes months (these days probably years) to get the tooling made and to us. And Taurus will not sell cylinder blanks.
So the idea is sound but the building of the cylinder puts a screaming halt on things.

Thx u Gary, figured cylinder change would be snag otherwise you'd already be doing so. I like probably several other's would be all over them. Since CZ doesn't seem interested in revolver's, aka DW.

.356GNR or 41GNR?

Your best bet would be to look for a Smith model 28, the old Hiway patrolman, in 357 and have it rechambered to 356 GNR. The same holds true for a model 27 or 627 although they are considerably more expensive.

For the 41 GNR just pick up a Smith model 57 or 657 and have it rechambered to the 41 GNR.
Either of these would be MUCH less expensive than building a full custom like that 410 GNR of mine.
