Casting Bullets

Since I have a decent supply of large pistol primers I want to cast for my 45 LC guns. Looking at molds I saw a no sizing bullet mold. Do these really work well?

DEPENDS WHAT SIZE YOU NEED

Yes well enough. Usually a thou or two larger than most

but it's better to be a teeny bit bigger than too small. I have several. Only thing is if you powder coat them it will add about 0.003" to the diameter. A trick is to use a 9mm mould and coat to use in .357/.38. The bump up is perfect. The .45's work fine.

The liquid alox tumble lube works fine too. It's a little messy if you are careless but dried it loads fine. Shooting it's a touch smoky but who cares. It will save you buying $300 H&I sizer kit for a while. LEE sells push-through sizer kits for about $30 that are fine.

Enjoy and jump on in.

I use the Lee siziing dies to give me the best

accuracy. But you dont 'neeed' to do it. Shoot them as is and they work fine.

NOE makes push through sizers too

If you are loading for a revolver, the cylinder throats may make a difference on bullet diameter.
I have a 30 carbine Blackhawk with .308 throats, .309 sized bullets need to be shoved in really hard. My sons Freedom Arms .45 Colt has .451 throats, semi wadcutters sized .452 are difficult to chamber, any larger wont chamber.

I did not know that, NOE...

sometimes 1200 rounds a week in 25 or 30 different guns, in loading hard cast bullets I always go with the actual caliber, like .451 for a 45, 357 for a 357, .308 for a 30 caliber and so on. A lot of folks like to go one thou over the caliber but I have run into the same problems he had above when I do that.

who is NOE?
