Shooting 45lc out of 454 casull

Okay. I always thought it was fine to run 45 lc through a 454. Started doing some research and found that some people strongly advise against it. I'm aware of the potential carbon build up, but did not know if that is the only concern. So how do you guys feel about it? Thanks in advance

that would stop the carbon problems cold. I've had some Freedom Arms Model 83's that had very tight tolerances. So much that the varied .45 Colt brass with thicker rims locked it up cold. However on a Ruger or Taurus there seems to be less of an issue.
The practice is up to you but I've always seen it as a benefit. Ditto the .460 S&W being able to shoot .454 and LC. Ive been told Taurus makes one that shoots it all including .410 shotshells? I never even knew there was a calling!
Other than the cleaning, no problemo

and sharpened the edges with a taper reamer. After shooting .45 Colts I would push the 454 case into each chamber as a chamber scraper. Then a brass brush. Never had any problems.

Your my hero !! each time I have acquired a barrel with a fouled neck I soaked brushed and soaked some more and you know a week later, Next barrel I get that scraper will be the first tool used
Do what Jim says and you can get a 50cal brass

Brush that is for muzzleloaders and use it to brush cylinder chambers. Works like a charm

good brass brush after shooting 45 Long Colt thru it you won't have any problem. Also especially if you use soft lead, which no good shooter should do. And don't listen to the "experts" on the internet.
