Picked up my 2000 Harley softail deuce 2 days ago. Have not ridden since 1998. 1st time out I fell over while stopped. Looked like Arte Johnson on Laugh in.
Today was better, still miles to go.

LOL, have not thought about him in a while.

I have a couple cruiser types with forward controls (Triumph Speedmasters). I still do not like them (forward controls), they feel awkward and it's like I'm off balance, not ready to respond. I've actually skidded the rear end when some animals ran out in front of me. Really notice them at a stoplight if you are not used to them. The Ducati has pegs under you like a horse jockey, ready to jump and tense ready to go. Not necessarily comfortable for a long time. The vintage BMW is like you are setting at the dinner table. Stable and tolerable for a while. Alas, it has almost wooden drum brakes.

Remember to put your feet down. lol May the force be with you!

Thanks, Scotty

Hunting knife to the front fork of a Suzuki Trailhopper 50. Seemed like the right thing to do at the time...

Always put the uphill foot down

The downhill side is always farther than you think and you carry the bike with you trying to get a foot down. Once the bike starts to go it’s almost always too late. Sorry you dropped it. Glad you are out having fun

what if you are on a flat surface.

My wife took a dive from my bike as she was climbing off.

She didn't even wiggle on the ground for several seconds as I tried to shut down and avoid dumping the bike on her. I thought she was out cold but couldn't understand how with a helmet on and a drop of only a foot. She bruised her arm and knee and said she thought she broke something so she didn't want to move. Seeing her on the ground motionless almost gave me a heart attack!

You won’t do that again, for a long time.

Unless you’re really tired. Bet that was tough to pick up, i always worried about that with the big twins.

Congrats Winn! I’ve been thinking of one again!

Just so happens a guy at work hit me up yesterday about his dad’s 81 FLH Shovelhead he wants to sell! Might just do it and have a nice spring project!

Good luck!
