The Remington with its top strap was stronger and more accurate but will tie up from fouling much quicker than the Colt. You can keep the Colt running hours longer than the Remington simply by spitting on the front of the cylinder.

The original Colts and Remingtons had gain-twist rifling and were actually .45 caliber.
