Is it OK to dry fire the PD? Don't want to cause any damage.

I have one magazine that will not lock back the slide after firing the last round. It will lock back when hand racking the slide, but not when fired. The slide lock "tab" on the mag follower doesn't appear any different from the other mag that functions correctly. Any advice on how to correct this problem?

Thanks

Wouldn't dry fire, parts are few and far between.

With regards to the magazine issue,

I would first swap the magazine springs and see if that makes a difference. If not, put the springs back in their original magazines and then swap the followers.

Hopefully that will help isolate the issue.

if the mags are original Star mags they are pretty much

infallible. Never seen one go bad or have any problems at all due to the design of the mag and solid follower.

If your mag doesn't look like this one it is an after market and don't bet your life on it.

They Are OEM Star PD Mags

I have 3. Two function correctly, the 3rd one fails to engage side lock after firing last shot. Will engage slide lock during hand rack of slide.

Perhaps the spring is weak as suggested below.

if it stays back on a manual function my guess

would be the ammo is not quite hot enough to slam the slide back far enough to catch the slide catch. It may be the edge of the catch is either worn or angled a bit wrong. But if it holds the slide back manually that shows the slide catch is working. That normally means the ammo is not quite hot enough to push the slide back far enough for it to catch.
