But, would fair better in today's market of Ruger Americans, Savage Axis, etc.
I've refinished several stocks on them. Using Walnut Stain and Tru-Oil they come out better than the factory finish.
Agree they were built for factory ammo too. Many cast bullet shooters describe them "as if" they were designed for cast bullets.
In the M788 30-30 I will likely just push bullets designed for the 7.62x39mm thru my Lee .308" Sizer and push them fast out of the bolt action. Maybe even .309" if accuracy is better.
