Saw the posts on the Remington 788. I thought I would post a couple pics of mine. The stocks that originally came out of the factory were just ugly. The .308 carbine was reshaped on the grip and I also shortened the stock. It’s been my go to gun over the years for anything. The .223 has leather on the stock because it looks like Swiss cheese underneath because of shortening and lengthening for fitting my son and then later my daughter.
Each rifle has taken more game animals than I can count. I wouldn’t trade these rifles for anything.

Those look great! Love the salty use

Remington engineers would be proud. My .308 really a fine shooting rifle. The first and only one I got scope eyebrow from, a .308! I refinished the birch stock on my 6mm and stained it mahogany red. I should have kept it. The little .243 I wanted to keep but it's the one I had issues with. I always wanted one of those 7mm-08 carbine versions. This was about 1986-88.

I bought my 222 Rem in 1982 for $188.00...

Did you notice the leather straps to keep the clips in, velcro and leather. I learned to listen for the faint click and knew the clip was about to fall out, and they ain't cheap,if you can find them
