On the 'spent cases as projectiles' front

Who knows, if things get real dicey this may be useful to some... just watched some youtubers who found that spent .40 s&w cases were just right to be loaded into .44 mag cases and mildly propelled in those .44's acting as brass bullet jackets engraving the rifling just fine. Those spent .40's were filled (cast) with lead and their mouths were partially closed (coned) to resemble a large hollow point. At close range they did a respectable job against the usual 'reactive' soft targets... water jugs, ballistic gel, etc... and even peeled back at times like a copper jacket. Yup, thought it was interesting, these experimenters... sounds like something Jim Taylor would come up with to keep under your hat until needed.

There are a lot of things that will work .. if need be.

Pinky Lee, aka Bob Denning has been doing it for years

You can use 9mm brass to make .41 bullets. You do need to run them through a sizer die. I have a few of his jeweled hp’s

Lee Jurras told me he used 45 ACP brass in his 475 Linebaugh

seated backwards.

I shot quite a few of those with him.

I had gone up and stayed a couple days, hanging around. I told him about shooting the 45 ACP cases in my .475 and of course he had to try it out. We had a hoot! Tried some other things that I won't write about ... he loved to tinker with stuff.

WHO REMEMBERS PINKY LEE?

This guy is “making” jacketed soft points from .30-06 brass filled with lead and shaped in modded common dies. Seems he wanted to shoot his .476 Nitro with some regulating 500 gr. Projectiles and had to roll his own.

Denning is a master with panache. Often embedding jewels in the hollow points!

I make .400/10mm from 9mm brass and a .357 124 gr slug

The guy who built my dies has tested these projectiles with a 300 win mag necked up to .40 they have expanded at 40s&w velocities and held up to the velocities of the rifle.
