I bought a 1860 Colt Army .44 replica made by "Euroarms" that I suspect is a Pietta or SanMarco produced Italian gun. I also procured a Uberti manufactured 1861 Navy Colt in .36 (really a .375 cal.) that had been modified into a "Avenger" configuration.

Now that I have the occasion to compare, the difference is striking. The smoothness and detail on the Uberti is worth twice as much easily. But it did not cost that much more. The smoothness of the action is really telling as is the accuracy of the timing. Also the finish details show.

I'm not sure of the "pecking order" on Italian manufacturing of firearms but the Uberti seem to be on the tip top positive end and the others somewhere a notable distance beneath. Not being a gunwriter or buddies with the manufacturers I can speak bluntly. There are differences.
