Travelers beginning to move...

We are goofy, enjoying taking photos of our luggage and analyzing all of our choices. Doug, who is a very experienced traveler, checked in on the Africa trip. So far so good, with some changes. Something about sending guns ahead then re-checking them into the system twice more several thousands of miles apart. This has prompted him to change from three guns (.378 GNR Encore, .338 Mag. Ruger were sacrificed) to tote only one. The custom Blaser 9.3x62 was the obvious choice, already a proven veteran African tool. Opening that case makes him look like a high end "Hit Man" with all the unitized components, take down system, optics and mount, extra mags (Blazers take the triggers with the mag!), slings and such. It's a heck of a rig for a considerable sum. But compared to the limited lifetime experience and being such an important part, it's easily justified.

I have shared a lot in his planning and picking equipment, hearing his reasoning etc. It's really enjoyable to share in the experience on any level. There is so much planning that went into this selection that while it may not be impressive to most it is to me! This contains all the clothes, meds., tools, optics, ammo, firearms, knives etc. that a man might need on a week at the edge of the Kalahari pursuing game. Also it's been calculated and selected that if it's all lost he has enough in that carry on to borrow a gun and make do with what he can allocate in emergency.

The 43 hour travel Doug is anticipating will be a big part of the adventure. Certainly there will be hiccups but I figure that's part of it all. Think of the days taking a month long Steamer trip to arrive with trunks full for a month Safari!

Travel efficiency seems to have reduced hunting time as well as gear that can be used in a practical manner.

Hope the guys have a great flight and hunt!
