Mr Jim mentioned a 9 mm below. My granson and I killed 3 deer-- I shot the undressed bodies in the lungs at 6 steps with remington black belts 124 gr+p.. the results were the same -- it blew up the nearest lung badly and the made a 35 ish hole. and then out into the dirt clear through personally I was impressed -- a leo friend was too and glad I tried the rounds out.... will try again this year.

A bow hunter friend took a nice buck with his Beretta 92

Using 147 gr. JHP. Denning took a doe with his Glock. Not sure what good a little G19 is in bear country but Denning looks at bears like I do chicken snakes, not much of a bother!

I have some good cast 9mm loads with 158 gr. SWC (resized to .356”) at 1000 fps. Gives new life to the old Hi-power which feeds them flawlessly.

The rest of the story

Actually it was a small 2 pt (western count) I shot it with a Glock 17 and ball ammo. The shot was about 80 yards resting off my truck hood. At the shot the buck dropped in its tracks. I was amazed. When I got up to him The bullet had just clipped his spine. Lucky shot hit since I was just aiming at the whole deer. Lol.

I can relate to that

and even an alligator. The 9mm is the 38 Special of the auto-pistol world.

I had a dog in the pasture, chasing the bull.

I put 2 9mm's through the dogs chest .. crossways shots. The first was 124 gr. JHP and the second was 147 gr. JHP. Both gave exit wounds about 40 or 45 caliber. The dog did not move after the second hit. Both shots were a couple seconds apart.
