a day or two later
John,. my PH talked me into taking a shot at a Golden Wildebeest, a new species found as far as I know only in the Kalahari Desert. I borrowed a custom 338 GNR TC from Erik Stenberg and we took off for the Kalahari.
It took most of a day to spot the herd and with no cover taller than my knees I had to take the shot at 187 yards. The shot hit in high in the shoulder or lower spine and he wobbled a few yards and fell over. The Golden Wildebeest isn't as big as the Blue or Black Wildebeest but an unusual critter.
