bitching that the gun shops are jacking up the prices way over retail. Now this is probably true in many instances but the price of ammo these days from the manufacturers have gone up astronomically. A box of 9mm that we sell for $30 today that we sold last year for $17.95 now costs us around $23 or so.

We just got a flyer in from Sierra this morning about a new Sierra 6.5 Creedmoor round that is supposedly great for antelope and such. They show antelope and deer on the box. At least they didn't say it was a good elk round like some of the idiot internet gun writers are doing. But here is the wording straight from Sierra...

Now look at the price. $45 for a box of 20 rounds. When folks come into our shop and see $45 for that box they are going to blame us and other gun shops for jacking up the prices. Not that I believe that we are going so see any of that ammo any time soon, but that is just an example. We got some top of the line 30-06 in recently, that sells for $49.95 for 20. Some Premium ammo in 22-250 and 6.5 Creedmoor that also sells for around $45 to $50 a box and so on. So next time you see a box of rifle ammo priced at $45 or more a box, remember in most cases the gun shop isn't jacking it up, that is the suggested price. The shysters are the ones on the internet scalping folks at 2 to 3 times retail.
