A post below about a new light for shotguns got me to thinking. What's the purpose? Seems like: 1. a light identifies your position to a bad guy, so there is no question s to where you are, and 2. Never point a gun at something unless you intend to shoot it....SO if you have a light on a gun, be it a shotgun or AR, or pistol, you're illuminating what you intend to shoot, are you not??

If a bad guy breaks into my home, I'm flipping on the lights, so that solves illumination issue in my home. If I have to go out into the yard to investigate a "bump," the flood lights are on too, so there is another scenario with illumination solved. Power outage? Take a flashlight. As long as its not mounted on my pistol/AR/shotgun, I am NOT pointing a loaded gun at an object I may not intend to shoot.

Social unrest? Zombies? Lights *attract* unwanted attention.

Can't think of a good, logical, or sound SD reason to have a light on a gun. Change my mind. I'm trying to reconcile rule one of gun safety with an exception when it comes to WML.
