as far as I know (this may not be true) they are only available in the Kalahari Desert. They are a reddish gold in color and the stripes in the ribcage of the animal are dark red whereas on the Blue Wildebeest they are a dark gray color. I shot the animal with a borrowed 336 GNR, borrowed from Erik Stenberg. The Wildebeest was shot at a measured distance of 187 yards. As far as I know it is the only one ever taken with a handgun. Hunting in the red desert sand was an unusual hunt, to say the least. With very little brush or cover the shots are long.
