and not drive like a "truck'. They always were very reliable as to engines and drive trains. Mexicans can make them run forever with only duct tape and bailing wire. Back in the 70's it seemed the roads were too narrow to drive a ford truck! lol Twin I-beam indeed.
I had a Dodge (excuse me Ram) or two and they did ok. Seemed a little tinny in comparison and had more mechanical issues. Horrible gas mileage.
Toyota's seems to be great. Little Nissan's are fantastic. But the bigger ones (Titan) have rear axle seal issues, really poor design. Chevy and GMC are good trucks but several years ago some had tranny issues. Just a little $3000 repair. Ford F250 diesels are horrible and I'd not own one. Some issues had you pulling the cab. It takes (3) computers interacting with the varied systems (including exhaust) to start the thing. Also the gas burners with turbos are turds. Turbos will not last much past 100k and are really expensive to repair. Just pass on anything Turbo.
You really have to do your homework. Consumer's Reports and Kelly Bluebook information on owners feedback. Check online forums for owners bitching about problems too.
There are some very good vehicles out there and they can go 300k miles if you get a good one. Good luck.
