Unknown Gun

Today we had to move a gun safe. It had not been moved in a long time but there is some work gonna happen that necessitated us moving the safe so we went to work.

First we opened it up and got out everthing that was in it including old bills, receipts, cancelled out of date checkbooks, watches, jewelry and some guns and ammo.

After moving the safe to a proper location we started going through all the crap that was in it, throwing away what was out of date and no longer useful.

In the process we found an antique watch that had belonged to my wife's grandpa. Had all the pertinent data with it. Also found a knife no one remembered owning. And most interesting of all, we found a gun that everyone thought was lost or stolen. Well ... I guess it was lost. In the safe. Supposedly there was something wrong with the gun and a relative who owned it gave it one another relative who said he could get it fixed. That was 4 years ago and the gun disappeared and no one could remember what happened to it.

When I saw it I knew the story (I had not been involved no matter what anyone else says) and I recognized what it was.

I took a couple pictures of it and sent it to the owner asking if he knew whose gun this was. He was real excited and emailed back one word ... "YEP" ...

Apparently it is considered a valuable possession and I am to get it to him as soon as I can.

Which I will be glad to do.

The moral of the story is "Clean out your safe more than once every 4 or 5sa years."
