Anybody on this forum have an opinion or two?

I don't normally read Field & Stream. Just saw the headline online and thought it would be fun to share.

Love the 41 mag, people have been saying it's a dead cartridge but it still lives. I currently have 7 41 mag guns. Also like the 45 GAP, I have it built in a DI AR15 and love it, very little recoil and very accurate to boot.

All of those listed are arguable. The .25 and .32 ACP have been around for over 120 yrs., military issued in at least two World Wars, and they still make firearms for them. Any intelligent or rational thinking man would conclude, while popularity comes and goes, a longevity like that is likely not to suddenly subside. True a shovel wielded properly, John Wick style, would be more formidable than a tiny auto, I must face reality. (1) I seldom go about with a sharp-shooter shovel and do not know of a model that will fit into my front trouser pocket, and (2) I'm no John Wick.

The .40 S&W is the modernized version of the .38/40 Win. in a easy packing semi-auto. It's within 10% of the power of the hailed 10mm auto and I know there are bunches of guns chambered in it. The longevity of a cartridge does not necessarily depend on FBI adoption or use.

The .41 Mag. What kind of a moron is this guy?! He got me to name calling! Such is the emotional attachment to the .41 Magnum. The .45 GAP was a continuation of the .40 S&W concept and while I agree a bit overzealous it was interesting thinking, a .45 ACP in a 9mm chassis.

Over time many of these types of articles have been used to manipulate readership, move folks to emotional action. The .30-06 is dead, .44 Mag. vs .45 Colt, the .44 Special is No Good etc. Don't get too wound up about it, we are playing into their hand.

made people upset and they wrote the editors of who he was writing for... made the editors happy because it meant people were reading his stuff.

I don't know if you remember when he was on a mission against the .44 Magnum? Wrote about how they had to invent a sport to justify its existence? Said he would stand at 400 yards and let people shoot at him with the .44 Magnum and he would catch the bullets with a catchers mitt?

Then he wrote a piece about killing a Viet Cong with the .44 Magnum and how well it worked.

He knew how to turn a phrase and how to work up a crowd.

Even they were thought provocative to me. That .44 magnum VC kill he claimed was the first human killed with a .44 mag. His comments about killing were such that it made me wonder if liked shooting people. During WW II he took pride in claiming to have shot a German soldier from across a river while the German was having his morning bowel movement. He seemed to be one of those individuals who was wired for war and combat.

There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.

Most gun magazines and hunting shows fall into the same category, sponsor driven. I just take it all with a big grain of salt. They seem to forget that not everyone believes in the magic of the 6.5 madness and many of us don't really care for plastic guns......

--it depends one what you look at-- most bought-- most guns made for--- most molds for-- most reloaded... etc- I shoot what I like--..358 win and .41 mag -cause I like em-- If I did not have my .41s I would be using at least a .45 cal something or a .480--oh wait I have a 500 GNR... guess it is dead tooo:}
If they got rid of all the outlier ctgs from .25 up that would much larger list than 6... where is the fun in that
