We had those around here when I was kid then they all closed up, for 15 or 20 years they were gone and now they have came back as part of Dunkin Donuts about 3 years ago. 31 flavors is what they advertised years ago. We have ice cream stores here called Braum's that have a hamburger place and a small grocery store in them. I would be sick if they ever closed!

there was the head man at the local emergency room in the hospital. He said they kept count of how many old people (Florida is 65% old people) came into the emergency room with a heart attack late at night after eating ice cream before bedtime. They even knew the top 2 flavors of ice cream the old folks ate. What reminded me of this was Pistachio was one of the two top flavors that were killing the old folks. Tom, the head of the ER was a health nut and passed this along to me and since then I have never eaten ice cream after dinner....just in case.
One of my favorite late night snacks,

Missing all the good tasting stuff. Eating "organic" food that tastes like stale cardboard. My Mom and Dad used to go through a gallon of ice cream every two weeks. It made them happy. They only lived to be around 90.
coming from the head of the ER I believe him, plus

he was a very good friend who had no reason to bullshit me, and I figure I owe it to my family to stick around as long as I can. I haven't missed the evening or late night ice cream I gave up 27 years ago. A couple of chocolate chip cookies have taken their place.
I still eat ice cream, but not after dinner. When one

I tend to stay confused about the Dinner/Supper

question. I have married a yankee so that evening meal becomes dinner. But along the line I also married a southern belle so that evening munchie becomes supper. I also married one that was born in Germany to military parents so I guess that one would be weiner schnitzels or something of that nature.

I don't believe I have eaten ice cream in the evening in a long time.
Okay, I just had a bowl of grapes instead...

My daughter out of the blue asked to get some SCUBA lessons. Her mother and I were quite the dive team back before kids, both PADI advanced certified.
Our local Dive shops were put out of commission by the COVID closures. It literally murdered the businesses. The nature of the business requires close interaction not to mention sticking bunches of things in your mouth out of necessity. Sad thing been there since the 1970's.
BTW I can't eat Ice Cream, makes me sick at my stomach

Every 6 months or so I punish myself with a treat to remind myself why I can't eat it. Then begin the cycle once more. "Bryers" is a sole brand that I can tolerate in great moderation. I guess it's selective lactose intolerance, cheese I seem to manage.
There is ice cream and there is ice cream WB!

If you've never tried it, old-fashioned ice cream (the original, how it was made in the beginning) is still available. It is a splurge but OH-SO worth it. Check out https://www.graeters.com/ for the treat of a lifetime, oh-me, oh-my !! And no, this not spam. I order this once a year for my birthday and once in a while, one more time for the holidays...
I have gone to Baskins Robbins and ordered "Vanilla"

they look at me like I'm crazy but I know what I like. That's actually my favorite, plain old classic vanilla.
That sounds absolutely deli-sh! I'll take a peek.

I'm not much of an ice cream eater. I really don't care for a lot of sweets. Cakes and cupcakes should really have no icing! Anyways, I have been known to go into an ice cream place and just get a couple plain waffle cones. I love them things. I do get some strange looks.

then Baskin Robbins 20yrs back. But, never fear, perhaps a Ben and Jerry's will open where you can get a single scoop of they/them non-binary ice cream that could be chocolate but might be vanilla.
I wouldn't walk in the door of a Ben & Jerry's
