I came into a old Mossberg Model 500 20 ga. plain barrel with a cracked buttstock. Probably put behind a truck seat and some big old boy needed some more room. Crunch! With prices high it might be a $200-250 gun at best. 20 ga. is more manageable than the 12 for some, in reality there is not but about 25 pellets difference and the speed is the same. Usually a 20 is on a smaller chassis and they actually "kick" worse than a light load 12! Simply due to the weight differences.

Anyway I'm going all Jim Taylor on it!

I'm going to order one of those $25 pistol grips off the net. Then I'm going to use a pipe cutter to etch the barrel at 19" and cut it off. Instantly it goes from undesirable squirrel gun from a bygone era to a modern tactical wonder! And the value boosts up considerably!

We bought a double 20 and it literally brought tears to my eyes to whack the tubes. But instantly EVERYONE went from no thanks to wanting it!

I have a 12 gauge boat gun I accessorized and have pieces left over. will anything fit your gun? when I get back to Md I will look at what I have, pistol stock etc.

Hogue pistol grip that looked like a good design since I planned for my daughter and wife shooting it. My daughter has a 20 Stevens double that she has trouble opening the action. I was surprised the women had trouble. It's simply their hand strength. While my wife can grab a handful of hair and hang on like a snapping turtle, she struggles working a pistol slide or opening the action on that old DB. Both managed Doug's 20 ga. Shockwave Mossberg. Terribly overpriced I figured we can easily make our own version. A 18" pistol grip "shotgun" is the same OAL as a 14" barreled "non-shotgun" Shockwave. Plus I find the PG easier to maneuver. I'll post pictures of this very simple build.

It's not really needed but the front bead sight is something to ponder. I'll see if they have "bolt on" styles or I can always just drill and tap to install a fiber optic.
