Reeder Custom Guns - What's your most fearsome/intimidating handgun?

yeah, I know, don't count on intimidating anyone. But, this one is pretty fearsome, 2ea .61cal 325gr ball doing between 900-1000fps,would do a LOT better from longer barrels, and still not a max load as it seems entirely adequate for the purpose.

Left loaded, it rides a lot with me, normally the hammers are down on some thick rolled leather pills between hammers and caps.

Always goes boom. Easy (for a BP gun) to clean. Have also the detachable shoulder stock and belt holster, neither ever used, but makes a nice set.

Have not been able to find it lately on the Pedersoli sight, only the cartridge versions, but it might only be hiding from me. Surely hope they have not dropped production.

I could not hit my ass with both hands with it. Off the bench we did some work but boy was it unwieldy. Scattershot is a better bet in my view.

Mine would be my Reeder ElDiablo in .44 Special with a 4" barrel. Looking down the muzzle there are five big holes exposed and another hid by the frame. Usually these grey flat tips filling those holes. A man wielding a SA anything, much less a .44 Special $2000 custom, just might know how to shoot it. Is he simply a poser, or a real Shootist?! It would be a very important decision for a bad man to ponder very quickly. In the world of plastic wonderguns this different flavor, I figure, would have more of a psychological influence.

But I can hit a smallish cardboard box with a target taped to it for laughs out to 20yds. I never bought it to shoot even that far. I have an original stainless Vaquero with short barrel and rounded gunfighter grip done by Gary, and with his crowning job, it appears nearly a .62cal as well.

I can actually point the thing, I can hit with a plain ball about as well as I can center a pattern, and using a patched ball keeps the loading easy and fun.

If it were a longer shoulder stocked gun I would spend more time playing with wads and shot loads and powder charges for best patterning, but for a fun gun, simply dumping in powder followed by a patched ball is about as simple as it gets.

I always followed the old V.M. Starr advice and kept shotloads simple, power, couple of pasteboard wads, shot, same pasteboard over shot, and have been quite happy with patterns, but the patched ball is even simpler.

impressive handguns. And that old girl with the gorgeous stocks is something else. Thanks for posting the photos, which was the point of my post. Are those stocks BluMagnum or Roy Fishpaw?

at the bottom photo and was guessing BluMagnum. No wonder Roy Fishpaw also popped into my head and would not leave. Both were there and did not see it, trees/forest/etc.

That gun kicks so hard just looking at it would make me flinch.

on Airweights for that reason, and never was tempted to buy the Scandium, plus I always thought the pencil barrel snubbies hid easier.

Those little scandium [image] frame guns make you say bad things about good people.

I'd rather shoot a .454 one handed.

its just a bit longer than my Glock 40 longslide.
