I've wanted to try and "make" a .17 cal. rimfire from an old .22 also. They make liners that you epoxy in with Accraglass and trim out, rechamber. It looks like some fun. The .17 makes a safer rig around here for some applications as the bullets disintegrate rather than bouncing off to other places. The wind can be a bother. But it's fun. The expense is not too bad when you are shooting a single shot. A scoped "boys" rifle from some old rig might be a hoot. Just to see if I can do it.
