I was asked to give the benediction at our local observance after the wreath was laid and here is what I said:
We pray that the inspiration and dedication we feel not quickly fade away when we leave here. We pray that it remains with us through the days ahead and is passed on to our families and friends.
Many of us who fought on the front line had the feeling we were sent to die in a fruitless war. We have borne the hardship and strife of combat, witnessed the pain and suffering of our wounded brothers, and held them as they died. we laid on the ground bleeding from our wounds thinking, Lord, I don't think I will make it.
Bless us oh Lord, and give us the strength and courage to continue to preserve the liberty and freedom of our wonderful country for which our brothers gave their lives.
Thank you oh Lord, our G-d,that this country has regained its sense of gratitude for those that have borne the battle.
G-d bless the United States of America and those that died to preserve it.

Thank you.
