Reeder Custom Guns - We gave been having a great time up here in

Alaska on vacation! I do feel naked without my usual personal protection firearms. Has been a pocket knife and bear spray. We have seen lots of moose,black bear, eagles etc. Hope to see some brown bears when we fly over to Port Alsworth. Would be alot more comforting with a big bore sixgun instead of just spray for 4 legged or 2 legged creatures.

Your choice of a sidearm be? You are in black and brown bear country.

Think I would be wanting something on the order of a 44 magnum minimum, preferably a 4 or 5inch 475 Lb in a chest rig.

45 Colt Redhawk, 3” 20+ years ago, I switched to a Super Redhawk 454 when they became available. I usually prefer a SA over DA, but I always wore this in a chest rig, that also fit over my waders, and I could access it R or L handed, just in case. I wore it in my sleeping bag. My wife called it my mistress. I spent 4 months living in a tiny tent on the Kenai, when I was building my cabin. A .454 was always handy, stoked with punch bullets. A couple years later I took a video of a brownie chasing two yearling moose around the barn. There out there.

Be camping out near Moose Pass, Carter lake I think. I really like the Kenai river, Skilak lake area, that's where we saw alot of black bears, no browns yet.

Before you get to Hwy cutoff to Seward, For an Ice cream on the way to Soldotna. We were up on the hill side over looking the Kenai River Valley. I don’t miss the drive. It was about 3,200 miles from here in N Idaho. Moose pass gets all the rain and weather. It packs up against the mountains and dumps.
