Not many folks would ever know. I do remember us having to "pinch" our #11 caps to keep them on the old Remington clone nipples. A few would blow off but we didn't think much of it. I just figured if you shaved a thin ring of lead off the seated ball while loading it you were good.
One of my favorites are the dainty little Remington and Colt .31 cal. revolvers. Using only 15 grs. FFFg and a little 45 gr. ball they made a thunderous sound and flame. The book said they were about the equal of a .22 Short but that ball really penetrated much better. They seem lots more than a .22 short!
