A pretty as a set of AA Exhibition grade barky stags, of all applications, this might not be such a good fit. You'd perhaps rough up the hide on your palm. But on the other figurative hand if it's too slick you might split your nugget trying to keep hold of the beast. The Gunfighter grip alteration, which the factory now offers their version as an option, helps a bunch in holding things in the pocket of your hand for a moment longer. It looked like the FA version is not as hand filling as GNR's and aimed at the shorter barreled carry guns. Also the forces on the grip screws and pin might be considered. Wood is pretty but the fancy figure walnut might split or develop stress cracks under the forces. The factory uses a stabilized laminate, which I take as a tip.

Perhaps GNR's Mongolian bone is a good compromise in practically and style. Just speculating.

Mongolian stag are the best. The laminated is strong but a bit slick. The stag is more expensive, by a small bit, but is super strong and is slightly porous so it is not too slick. In all the years we have been importing the Mongolian stag I don't ever remember a set splitting.

That is the direction I am leaning.

Not only that but it has become a little bit of your personal "Gary Reeder" top end signature. On a FA83 Premier what is a few dollars more that will soon be forgotten. I think it would be very practical in use. I'd like to see a little bit of GNR in my FA custom.

I really like the green laminate that Freedom Arms uses. I think it looks sharp on a stainless gun. I was thinking of having a set put on my .50. I think Gary has something that looks pretty close.

ours are a bit different with some gray mixed in
