I received my SCI magazine today and was just quickly flipping through the pages and came across one of our Misfits.
ALCORN RUSSELL. ALCORN placed 3rd in the Handgun Division. He took a SOUTHERN ROAN ANTELOPE. Congratulations. They did not post what type of handgun or caliber. But if I had to guess it probably was a Reeder custom. Again, great job. Pete

Load was 250gr. Swift A frame with 56gr. of IMR 3031 with Federal 210 primer in Hornady 405 case. velocity was 2300fps.

take 3 guns. The 378 GNR on a G-2 frame for the longer shots. A 429 GNR in a revolver. I have to put an 8" barrel on it to be legal. And a revolver in 430 GNR, again with an 8" barrel. These choices may change as we get closer and I see how the terrain is. On the edge of the Kalahari Desert the terrain can be pure red sand with clumps of brush or heavy brush at the edges of the desert. So things may change.

From what I've read from other people who've done this type of hunt it is very exciting. I'm really looking forward to it. I never thought I'd get to go to Africa again ( went once to Zim in '04) let alone hunt lion. I just happened to run across their ad on another site in the " Deals and Offers" section. I decided I could swing it, so off we go.

Now if you would join me on that African lion hunt in September I would say a lot more nice things about you. Hell, I might even tell folks that you are a nice guy and a wonderful fuggin person, but only if you decide to go hunt a lion with me. the way a lion hunt should be, pure stalking. Find lion tracks in an area where there are a lot of lions, pick the tracks of a big male and start the stalk. A lion hunt has been on my bucket list for years so now is the time. I had thought of either a big bear hunt in Alaska or an African lion hunt. The lion hunt won.

This is not set in stone yet. I have a couple of small health issues that I need to get taken care of. So good Lord willing, September is the month. We'll see. I still have a couple of guns to build, ammo to test, go to customs for the paperwork, see if Delta is back flying and book the flight, stay the hell away from Qatar, get my South African Police paperwork done, send some $$ to John at Madubula Safaris, replace all my hunting gear that was stolen in Qatar 2 months ago, send some more $$ to John, get my guns registered in South Africa, do all the normal stuff that we normally take a year to do in 2 months. Plus a lot more small things. So I am looking forward to it.
