I work with a guy and we have argued several times back and forth about the 5.56/.223 deal. He can't be told that you can shoot either one in a .223 barrel, he insists that it will blow the barrel up in your face because the 5.56 operates at much higher pressure. I've told him the .223 is just the civilian version of the 5.56 like the .308 is the civilian version of the 7.62x51. I've shot both in my rifles for years. I just nod and go on when he starts telling people that you can't shoot those in the same gun. Since he builds AR's from parts kits he thinks he's a gunsmithing expert.
