Sorry to hear you didn't get a bear in the salt. But, you had a great experience that you will never forget. You did it right and went alone. Lots of planning, preparation and expense. No one can take that from you; ever. Alaska is a tough place. Bigger than life. You did your part. An accurate 90-yard handgun shot is outstanding. No need to hang your head because he didn't drop to the shot. Bears are tenacious. Savor the experience and the lessons learned and get to planning the return trip.
