The.460 S&W has merit but is short at around 2". I had some old reloaded cast .375 JDJ and tried them but the bullets were too long, stuck out past the cylinder. SO I shortened them and shot (5) to see what the brass looked like formed to the weird .45/410 chambers. I basically invented the .444 Marlin. LOL Well it does have a little step in it at the .45/.410 transition. They are still shorter than 2.5" but so is an "unfired" .410 shell. The 2.5" is a *fired shotshell hull. So they should be about right.

Now the fun begins. Straight snake loads or buck and ball? As long as I manage the overall payload weight, including any wadding etc. it should duplicate the .410 shotshell of a 1/2 oz. (214 gr.) projectile at some 1100 fps.

We found the "Defensive" .410 loads terribly inadequate on Goat at the HHC one year. (not me) The guy had to borrow a rifle to finish the job, the "discs" dd not penetrate into the body cavity. So much for fancy ammo. But a couple lead balls with some shot should be pretty nasty. A whole bunch of holes for your 5-shots.
