about using Pyrodex pellets in centerfire revolvers. Somebody said no can do. Hodgden says you can. This was in Handguns Nov. 1999.

So are you going to do some testing Gary. I tried them in a small cannon and could no get them to ignite.
I am not a black powder guy. I will leave

that up you Misfits to try that. I would think if the pellet is pushed hard against the primer and you use a magnum primer it should work.
I HAVE USED THEM IN PERCUSSION SIXGUNS BUT

HAVE EXPERIENCED HANGFIRES AT TIMES.
IT's the same concept as an "inline" ignition

The primer flames a huge surface area going down the hole in the center of that pellet which ignites it readily. I tried that with the first box of pellets that I got when they first came out. I used a .45 Colt. Other than nasty residue in the cases and the gun a bit they are fine.
I saw no need for any special Magnum primers when I tried it. It goes BOOM! You need to see for yourself though.
If you cannot get powder they would work for sure. They are great for cap & Ball revolvers where they fit. Ditto, just an inline ignition. In the ML world there is no such thing as TOO HOT an ignition. More is better.
I'm delighted Mr. Taffin is revisiting the C&B realm. When you have played with almost everything else it is neat to revisit or have something new. The fact that they are mostly exempt from FFL requirements is icing on the cake!
For hunting however they are a little limited. Despite Jim Taylor shooting little piggies and Goerg pegging big black bears. Those men were/are exceptional tinkerers and adventurers.
