Where the .44/45 lines blur...

Thanks to Uncle Jon for the fancy .444 Marlin brass. Now to construct "fireform" loads and see how slick they eject. With a revolver the ejection is magnified. However many you are ejecting all at once compound in effort. A single sticky case in a SA is one thing but 5 or 6 stuck in a DA is another.

The nickel in this case is sure to aid in ejection. The load pressures should be low and once the brass is hammered out the all brass cases should make nice ammo.

On the unformed cases they are exactly the same length and capacity as a plastic hull .410 2-1/2" shotshell (derived from the .44/40 shot loads two centuries ago). I do want to shoot some shot so I typically use a card or tuft of dacron as a "base" then use loose shot atop that finished off with a gas check crimped in place. The .44 check is a bit tight here, it would work if I flared the case a bit. I'll see if a .41 check might do better. The pull on the shot charge is notable in recoil with the .45 Colt/.410 Taurus. I might try some soda bottle heavy plastic wads and a heavier crimp.

The fired .375 JDJ cast loads formed cases that mic'd 0.430 inside the neck. Maybe it was just not fully ironed out yet. These un-sized cases chamber easily.
