to use in Africa on the lion. The 510 GNR likes the 350 grain bullets, mainly a jacketed soft point on the left but also likes the 350 grain hard cast from Montana Bullet Works. I have no idea who made the JSP as the box wasn't marked but it is accurate.

The 3rd one from the left is a 429 GNR and a Sierra 210 grain bullet. The gun likes that one but I don't think it is a good one for a 600 lb lion so that will probably change.

The main cartridge for longer range is the 378 GNR with the 260 Accubond bullet. I have taken a gazillion critters in Africa with that bullet but I am not sure it is the right bullet for a lion, so that may change. I have some time (not much) to do some testing.

Thanks Gary.

I really like that .510 JSP, looks well designed.

A bit old school with the exposed lead. Reminds me a little of the old Speer half jackets I used to really like in .41 and .44. They were great bullets and no doubt discontinued on their old time looks. I really favored the half jacket HP. I have the tools to make my own, dies and jackets.

I still think a bit of expansion would do well on Lion. Blending expansion with penetration is the trick. The old school .375 270 gr. JSP from Hornady always expanded well for me in the single shot handgun. They used to make it in both RN and Spire point.

I also like the 350 JSP but the problem is I only have about

30 of them, or had. I have shot up nearly half of them and am trying to hang on to the rest for the hunt. When we get there we always shoot our guns to make sure the sights are still on so I will end up probably with 15 or so of the JSP and 5 to 10 of the hard cast gas check bullet. Both 350 grain bullets.

I'll look to see what I have laying around

I think it was Blake that used to order custom .510 Jacketed bullets. I got a bunch of crap from Puffy a long time ago. I'll see what is in there.

the bullet is almost like a cup point, although it

isn't a point at all. It should expand well on a thin skinned critter at 1200 fps.....hopefully.
