for some special .454 Casull jacketed bullets. I have see the after effects of soft jacket .45 Colt projectiles failing when pushed so hard. My .454 "Casual" loads will all sport cast bullets. The hand numbing hunting loads will more than likely be jacketed. That way I can tell their load levels from across the room and not likely to forget it.

Have any of the Misfits used the .45 cal. 300 gr. Speer "deep curl" line of projectiles?

I have 20 boxes of Winchester 260gr. Partition

454 Casull for my Reeder Southern Comfort. It shoots them well on paper. If I ever get to try them on a hunt they should do well. Recoil is tolerable.
Have shot deep curls out of a 44 mag.. Again not on flesh and bone. Groups on paper okay. I believe they are plated type bullet. I would want to do so expansion testing before I used it on anything larger than deer or faster than a 44 mag..
So many guns, so little time...

I have a box of the original Freedom Arms bullets for really

serious work, sort of a half jacket over hard cast lead center. My per load I have used for years is the 300g XTP thick jacket over 30g H110 for a bout 1750 fps. hes taken several deer and elk without problem. I do like the Hornady XTP line. I also have several weights of cast performance gas checked stuff in 300, 335 and 360 weights, let me know if you want to try a few

must be getting tired my typing sucks LOL

I grabbed 500 Speer Deep Curl 300 grain 454 during a special sale last summer that I will be using in my FA 454 this fall. I also have several of the Freedom Arms 300 grain JSP, but haven’t shot any.

I took two animals last fall with the 240 grain Speer Deep Curl in my 44 magnum. Outstanding performance.

The Speer deep curl is all I use in my 41GNR#2

It is the same bullet as the Gold Dot, just got a new name. They expand to the cannelure on soft tissue. If the hit bone they peal the head off the mushroom and act like a solid and keep bushing through. [image]
The slug on the left passed through both shoulders of a 150 lbs hog and broke the hip on an other 150 lbs hog. The one on the right went caty corner, shoulder to hind quarter on a fat whitetail doe that was quartering
