The all brass .410 loads for the Taurus

Thanks to Uncle Jon for the brass to proceed with the project. The nickel cases are easy to see and tell from others. I used a faster pistol powder and basically a heavy .44 Special level load for the some 270 gr. of payload. I counted some 90+ pellets of #5 shot. About a good 3" .410 shotshell payload. Pretty good trick, a 3" shell (opened) payload in a brass 2.25" case.

I used .41 gas checks crimped as hard as the .444 Marlin dies would manage. I'll have to see if the recoil pulls the checks out, my concern. Next time, after forming to the cylinder dimension, I'll likely flare and use .44 cal. checks. They would not require as much or drastic crimp. I did not FL size either, just primed and loaded.

I throw the powder charge then tamp in a cut square of Dacron blanket stuffing. It does not melt nor catch fire. It blows out the muzzle, looks like spider webs floating when shredded by a brake. I've never had any issue with hundreds of load using it under cast bullets or shot. It's 1/4" thick and $7 got me several lifetimes supply. The shot does not seem to need any plastic wadding which would take up capacity. The little brass frisbee gas check is formidable by itself on snakes.

I figure about 1000 fps. I'll try and test them this weekend.
