the 44s should be loaded with
Garrett cartridges ammo.
all except the S&Ws. We sell the Garrett ammo and all the
hot stuff is marked only for the Ruger Redhawk, Super Redhawk, Dan Wesson and Taurus. Way too hot for the S&W Model 29 or 629.

Ever slicked one of these up?
if you look at the guns closely you will notice that all
of them except the Freedom Arms are 6 shot cylinders. The Freedom Arms is 5. That is the strength factor. The other guns have the locking notch almost exactly over the chamber, so the metal at the bottom of that notch is less thickness that the thickness of your fingernail. That is all the metal between you and the hot round. The 5 shot cylinder has the locking notch between the chambers giving it a much better strength factor.

how about that ammo type in the 454 used in the 460 S&W?
Garrett's doesn't load ammo in 454 (that I know of)
If you want hot 454 just about any factory 454 ammo will be about the same power.

there is a whole large group of younger shooters that always
want more and more power. Randy Garrett supplied the ammo for them that gave them more power but within safety boundaries. We never had any problems with Garretts ammo other than some idiots wanting to use that ammo in a gun not meant for that ammo. We always show the people what guns it was intended for by the label on top. They didn't always believe us as they always seemed to think their 44 mag revolver was strong as any other 44 mag. The S&W M-29 is one of my all time favorite revolvers but I will be the first to tell you my M-29 is not as strong as a Ruger Redhawk. It is a lot smoother but not as strong, period.
As we get older we tend to shy away from the overly hot ammo and abusive recoil(at least most of us do, Kelly Brost is not included in this group).
Loading up my ammo for my African Lion hunt in 8 weeks I found the loads I used in my 378 GNR a few years back for African plains game like Kudu, Gemsbok, eland and such were a bit hard to handle these days.
Just like there is a call for cars with more and more horsepower, and probably always will be, there is also a demand for more and more power in a handgun. Look at the 500 S&W and the 460 S&W. Then look at all the hot stuff that Reeder guy has developed. There is always a demand for more of everything. When we get to where we are satisfied with a 32 auto, then this business is doomed.

speaking of Kelly Brost a moment ago, I have built
encore barrels in calibers I won't even mention on here for Kelly. Calibers that I don't like in rifles he wanted in an Encore handgun. And I guarantee you if I came out with another new caliber that was way too hot for a handgun, Kelly would be first in line to want it in a handgun. There are a lot of quiet, shy, unassuming fragile guys around.....and then there is Kelly.

But before anyone thinks I am bad mouthing Kelly, absolutely not. Kelly has been a friend for many years. Right now he is one of those over the ice truckers that drive their semi trailer trucks over the ice on large lakes in Alaska. So Kelly is a good friend. Maybe a few bricks shy a full load, but a good friend.
