Your account of your loading procedures brings back memories of similar, only I used an old Lee Loader to whack out the ammo. Pan lubing was standard, but I shot them "as cast" (didn't have calipers to measure with back then). Knowing what I do about burros - that was a deliberate attempt on your life. Those critters are smarter than folks take them for, and can be malicious little things.
