Gary what are the rules on BP pistols through UPS private party to private party? Being black powder I thought they were not under the law?

and does not come under any of their laws. There is no paperwork involved in buying or ordering one thru the mail so as far as I know you can do whatever you like. I am sure one or two of the commie states like NY or California have their own silly ass laws but there are no federal laws.

That USPS had some guidance during the Obama Administration that muddied up the water on this issue. This was following a lawsuit filed against Cabela's for selling and mailing a bp revolver to a convicted felon who then used the revolver to shoot and kill someone. The changes were written in the inimitable governmental fashion that makes interpretation completely confusing and unclear. Therefore some post offices view bp revolvers as regular guns while others might not. General overall interpretation seems to require the shipper submit a 1508 form.

Feds say it is not a gun which they do, then as far as I am concerned, that lawsuit was a private thing between Cabelas and whoever was shot. And that does not concern me. The USPS is so screwed up they have no idea what is a law and what is not. That crap came about during the Obama administration so what do we expect.

I read the fed. rules sheet at the post office and it specifically exluded Blackpowder hand guns from the exemption. It was stated that they are considered handguns the same as modern pistols and must be shipped by an FFL holder. I am giving up on shipping any revolvers, so sorry for the waste of time.

laws and such from the ATF and there is no such thing in our paperwork. So until we get a notice from the ATF we will still consider BP revolvers non guns.

long guns in our shop as black powder is illegal in this county, but when someone does buy one they pay for it, we say thanks and they walk out. None of that escorting them to the door and no paperwork.

New Jersey considers all blackpowder, BB or pellet guns to be firearms. Yes I know this sucks.

Post office memo of June 24, 2021 covers replica black powder pistols. Anything concelable is regulated, it seems.
