Gary made me a T&A 500 max a few years back. I’ve created two loads for it. The “Titty Twisters” which are a 370g LGC with trail boss powder and my “Wild Boar Butt Plugs” which are 440g LNGC behind a mighty dose of H110. I take it out now and then and put a few Titty Twisters down range. Always Standing. Occasionally I’ll shoot up to 3 rounds of the Butt Plugs again always standing wearing gloves.

Today I decided to sight it in at the bench ( I know, I know) but I was only shooting the twisters that recoil like a moderately hot 44 mag. After a few cylinders down range I decided (stupidly) that the gun didn’t recoil so bad so I would shoot just 1 Butt Plug from the bench to see where they hit.

I had two friends shooting with me watching the recoil. I put on my gloves rested the gun directly in front of me gripped tightly, both elbows bent and leaned slightly into the bench for the best sight picture. (I know I know).

At the shot my buddies said the gun only rose up about 4 inches. Then blood started to run down my forehead. The gun bounced back, the front sight hit my forehead and back so quickly neither of them saw it.

I then decided it was time to put up the guns and break open the bourbon

Ok guys. I can’t be the only one that makes beginner mistakes. Hmmm

we've all done it at least once. Well, at least most of us

will admit it when we screw up. I did it about 2 months ago. I was testing a hot load in my 378 GNR encore for my lion hunt coming up now in 6 weeks. I had put a new scope on the new barrel a few days before and thought I remembered tightening it down. At the shot the scope, base and all came back and hit me dead in my left eye. The whole left side of my face was blue and puffy for almost 2 weeks. I am fairly sure I cracked my cheek bone as it hurts to touch it even today, 2 months later.
So anyone that has shot much has done it. It just sounds better to know you did it with a little blood and I wish I could have seen it. At least I did it with no one watching, dummy.

I will never admit to losing my 429GNR and

having it fly outta my hands with a max load of H110. The stag grips were too smooth and my hold wasn’t tight enough. All my big Reeders have a rubber sleeve on them….and I have a some nice midrange loads developed.

I accidentally put a max .338 GNR Encore load in a G2

It opened up and the brass hit me in the mouth, the action closed back up, so fast it was between frames on the video that captured it. I used my camera as a mirror and saw it was a small busted lip. Hurt my tooth for a day or so. I never found the empty case. When I opened the fired gun it was already empty!

That was a 200 gr. Hornady SP at 2600 fps from a 14".

I WILL SHOW YOU SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT SHOT ENOUGH. ALMOST KNOCKED MY SELF OUT WITH THE FIRST T/C .45/70. HOW ABOUT CLOSING THE SLIDE ON A LOADED 1911 AND CATCHING THE SKIN OF MY PALM IN IT. HOW ABOUT PUTTING A BULLET HOLE IN MY COUSIN'S BUMPER IN 1957. HOW ABOUT...................

I did it with a 4" or so FA .454.
