limit 2 per customer. Is that getting to be a common sight again?

Not any where near me. Maybe 500rds of "all calibers" total in the whole shop.

yesterday and on the invoice it showed it ordered Feb. 2nd. Most was shotgun stuff with buckshot the most, but high prices. a box of 25 rounds of 00 buckshot is $34. Some bulk 22 LR at about 3 times the price we normally used to pay.

So yes ammo is available but the prices are much higher than a year ago and a new price hike is scheduled for Sept. 4th.

Steve Hornady is a really good guy and a good friend and his prices are going up, not because he is trying to rape us but because Obama shut down our last lead smelter and also the last copper and brass outlets here in the states. So those are having to come out of South America and they are costing much more than in years previous. Plus he has 3 full shifts of workers trying to get as much ammo out as possible in a 24 hour period. All this is costing him almost double what it did 2 years ago.
Those that saw Steve's note to me a few weeks ago saw that he didn't even have enough ammo for his Africa hunt that he is on right now. He had to bum some 375 caliber Dangerous Game Expanding bullets from one of his employees who had almost a full box of them and he kindly sent me 20 rounds for my African lion hunt. So if the owner of one of the biggest bullet and ammo companies in the country can't even get enough ammo or bullets for his African hunt, you know there is a problem there.

Turkish .. all steel .. priced at $1200 per case. They had 25 or so cases on display.

Also had quite a bit of .22 ammo. A lot of it was nearly $20 for 50 rounds. No limit as to the quantity you could buy.

Academy here in Amarillo Texas had shelves full. Of 28 gauge and 2 boxes of 50 bmg

some premium US stuff, some cheaper type US stuff, most is import, and all far more than I would want to pay for ammo.

I always keep a supply on-hand, enough for a lifetime of limited shooting of calibers I shoot, but would like more reloading supplies as for primers and powder.

Which also will simply wait until prices drop as much as they will and then another restock, and if they do not, then less shooting, but still shooting.

I hit the local Walmart yesterday for some motor oil. Walked by the gun counter and saw a little ammo. There were a few boxes of 30-06, and believe it or not, 4 boxes of 30-30 and 2 of 22-250. I ask one of guys behind the counter on the box count and said I'd like a 1 box of 22-250. He didn't grab me to box, which didn't bother me as he had his hands full already. The dickhead in front of me bought everything they had. I didn't need it, but during the whole ammo crunch, I've been laying off shelf ammo so folks who don't reload can get some. The only ammo I bought was 1 box of buck shot when 8 were on the shelf. Hell, if I wasn't a little low on primers I wouldn't have even stopped to look. I asked that asshole if he needed all that 'cuz I wanted a box of 22-250. He said, he'd sell me a box. I told him where to stick the box of ammo.

What an asshole.

in most cases at a much higher price. We seldom put the bulk ammo out as is due to the much higher price. We split it up into 50 round baggies. That way a lot of folks get some ammo and don't have to break the bank.

I would want to spend, but I did see it as a good sign that there were at least one or two pallets of it just sitting there.

American made, brass case ammo. Like you said it is still higher than most want to pay, but if it is the good stuff then it is not too far off from being a decent price.

One thing that is pissing a lot of stores off and getting sales people fired at the distributors is the salesmen are supposed to be fair and equal as to their clients. Most ammo and guns are allocated and it says so on the invoice with a maximum the salesman can sell to one client. If a salesman has 10 gun shops as his clients and he gets 10 cases of ammo in he is supposed to offer one case to each client. Some are giving everything to one gun shop and getting a little bribe under the table and I know of several instances where the salesmen have been fired for this. Unfortunately shortages like these are bringing out the worst in people. And I don't see any change in the wind. Greed always comes out in the best of us.
