Told me one of his favorites, “Valdez is Coming”. (1971 - only 50 yrs. ago) It stars Burt Lancaster, sort of a basis for John Wick but seeking justice for a scorned widow. Complete with rich greedy land baron etc. I think I’ll get it to watch.

when we spent a couple days with him in Boise. I have watched it several times since then and read the book 4 or 5 times. The book is worth reading also. The movie and the book are close to each other.

and then when I got back to the states I had discovered girls and western movies and all movies were often seen from the back seat of my '56 Ford. So I am sure I missed a lot of the action except what came from the back seat. And then the windows were often fogged up a bit.
But I now have the Western Channel so I am catching up on a lot of the older westerns, back when men were men and women wore "bullet bras".
That is an excellent movie. If you haven’t seen it.

So is the professionals with Burt Lancaster,Lee Marvin, Woody Strode, And Robert Ryan. White Feather with Jimmy Stewart is also excellent.

it's great. If you want something even darker and more brutal, check out ULZANA'S RAID.
Pretty much anything based on an Elmore Leonard novel works, because Leonard wrote the best dialogue and the screenwriters didn't have to do much. I recommend HOMBRE with Paul Newman and all of the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott flicks (THE TALL T, etc.)
