or for the bigger cartridges some paper used by a beauty salon to blacken old ladies hair, and then learn to cast the 12 gauge slugs or "pumpkin" balls, and that is just a start. Hell, WB probably has all that in the top drawer of his loading bench. Also you can't load light loads. You need at least 100 grains of FFF powder. If you load light loads the writer said those loads "flopped". All the info you would ever need to blow up a $600 pistol.

Suggested load is 40 grains of 2fg, that guy is crazy

"For me, 100 grains with an ounce or more of lead in the gun is enough, and even a little too much, which is usually my sweet spot."

Sounds like a person or two I've met over the years...

I can attest that IS a hot load, 3-3/4 drams

and a 427 gr. projectile! It's a hefty load for a ML shotgun. I have a Navy Arms 11 bore Double barrel magnum ML. I shoot 100 gr. and a 1-1/2 oz. hunting load.

Doug and I made an Encore pistol .72 cal. smoothbore. We shot it as a "carbine" using the equivalent load for the Revolutionary War service load. It was 165 gr. FFg and a 600 gr. RB. Shot clean through a big TN hog raking away. Pole-axed it. in and out, not slowing down much!

Thats a blaster though! We also had a Howdah 20x20. IT was fun but not very practical. Sold it and made a big profit. Yippie!

I built a 15" encore pistol in 50 caliber BP. I used

150 grains of Pyrodex pistol and a 350 grain saboted bullet. It was a true handful. Then after doing all that I found out a BP handgun was illegal for big game in Arizona. So idea #2 went down the tube. (#1 is below)

Before that I picked up a TC single shot BP pistol that someone had ragged out. I re-worked it and refinished it with plans to do some BP hunting. (this was about a year before the BP encore above). Using the suggested loads I figured I had maybe the power of a real hot 38 special or light loaded 357, and I had big plans of a bison hunt, so I dropped that idea.

I have come to the conclusion that I needed to stay where I was doing what I do best. And that is sit around with a cup of coffee and think up new proprietary cartridges.

in the 50 cal. Encore I used 3 of the 50
