I was expecting this!!! Unbelievable is all I can say! Never imagined the mass and strength these things have. And the pictures don’t do it justice. Took us two hours of fighting before we could finally get him to the side of the boat where we could kill him. Hunt if a lifetime! I was post my Covid hospital stay and sucking wind the entire time! But tags are very hard to to get! What a blast! She loved it! He was 12’ on the dot! Based on measurement somewhere between 5-6 hundred lbs. Awesome and much appreciated memories.

Congratulations Young Lady! ;O)

We have a short season. Draw only. Hard to draw a tag. Lottery type. Only second time anyone in my family has drawn and we put in every year.

I REMEMBER SEEING THEIR COMEBACK

USED TO HUNT & FISH NORTH & WEST OF LAKE CHARLES AS A KID -- IN THE LATER 50'S & EARLY 60'S THEY WERE REAL SCARCE - HARDLY EVER SAW ONE - THEY SLOWLY STARTED REAPPEARING THRU THE 70'S & BY THE LATE 80'S THEY WERE LITERALLY EVERYWHERE -- EVEN IN LAKE CHARLES --

I grew up fishing lake Ponchartrain.

Yes they are everywhere now. We caught this one in SW Mississippi not far off the Mississippi River. They are everywhere.

AND YOU'RE RIGHT

IT'S A TRICKY MEAT TO MAKE EDIBLE -- I'VE HAD IT (TAIL) SEVERAL TIMES (SNOW WHITE) THAT WAS NOT BAD AT ALL - I'VE HAD IT SEVERAL TIMES & IT WAS LIKE EATING A BIG RUBBERBAND
DON'T KNOW WHAT THE COON ASSES DID TO MAKE IT WORTH EATING

Awesome gator. My wife has a tag in GA this year. Spent several nights on the water this year and saw nothing close to that. Her last gator was 12'6". Them lizards that size are getting really hard to find.

Great job, forever memories.

Its addictive.
The meat is not so good, but still more fun than many can imagine.

Her we have to snag them with a rod and reel. Then have them secured at the side of the boat before you can kill them. We had three rods hooked on this one and still took two hours before we finally wore him down enough to get him to the side of the boat. Then you can shoot them in the back of the head. Not like you see on swamp people setting lines. You hunt them at night, snag em and can’t kill him till you have him whipped. It was a blast!

NICE 'gator

That is one nice alligator!

I took this one in Louisiana in 2012.
He measured out at 12'2".
He stretched a bit when they tanned him, so he is right at 12'6" hanging on the wall.

Nice! I think we are going to do a skull mount on this one.
