We are studying Exodus this quarter. I've always found it interesting how God told Moses to seek the release of the Hebrew people yet also told him he would not yet allow Pharaoh to do so. This was done to expose the fallacy of man-made pagan gods (including Pharaoh himself), and validate the sovereign power and existence of God the creator to the whole world.
Our times are no different in the Gentile age. We are following the same failed chance by serving humanity over God. It's all God's divine will. We are now forced to let it get worse or finally stand up for what is right according to God's word.
