We just got in a transfer for a fellow and it is a Makarov, and not just a Makarov, but a KBI copy of a Makarov. Not even the real thing. And you would never guess how much he paid for it. $250 would have been a good price. $350 not so good but OK I guess. But how about $951 with shipping. And in the write up it says the "rare 9X18 caliber". But $951???

a day at $69.95. This was Ravens, Jennings and Davis guns (all in one family). We very seldom got any of them back with problems. As long as they didn't dry fire them they seemed to last. So many blue haired old ladies were buying them for home protection.

In Atlanta 30 years ago the mayor offered a buy back for guns. 100 dollars regardless of condition. As you can imagine, most of the guns were inoperable, stolen etc.
However some enterprising soul bought about 50 Ravens for $49 each and you know the rest of the story.
Needless to say the mayor's office declined comment on the transaction.

got a 45 gr. cast bullet up over 1100 fps from it. Shot a lot of those and it never came apart. Blew the primer pocket our of the cases but the little zinc gun kept running.

and if you can hold it she will keep all 6 on a pie plate at 20 yds. I never mess with any loadings other than the 50 gr. FMJ. I mean why?! If a HP opened up it would hurt penetration. That is about all a little .25 has going for it.

When the military was doing to tests to go from the 1911 to a 9mm, Astra and Star won several of the tests but part of the deal was the company had to move to the U.S. and manufacture the guns here. Astra and Star both refused and the Beretta won the testing and set up a new plant in Accokeek Maryland. The Astra A-80 and the Star model 28 at the time held various contracts with European military and police agencies, in fact Astra and Star held almost all the military and police contracts in Europe at the time.

shoot decent groups around 2 to 3" at 25 feet which is all one should shoot at a person and still be considered in fear for his life. I bought my second one recently for $225. I have seen them on gunbroker for $450 and up and one at a bit over $700. So $225 was a steal. They are great little pocket guns, last ditch guns, when all else has failed, double action, stainless and pretty much fool proof in function.
