you have shot in your house. What guns/cartridges.

of your posts about 22s and maybe the 480 that you were shooting inside in the last few months or so.

We do have a .22 rimfire range in the shop. And I do test fire some loads in the shop .. various calibers including some rifles .. if I need to.

I was catching the bullets to see how they were entering the rifling etc. But I did that in the shop ... with a decent backstop in case I didn't have enough rags.

Shot my couch, pointing in a safe direction. I did it, pulled the trigger. My fault.

but never accidentally or negligently. It was always on purpose. And always into a good bullet stop.

When we lived in the mountains in southern Arizona my friend Tom came over for a visit while our wives drove into Tucson to shop. It was cold and snowing and we wanted to shoot so we set up a nice box of sand on the back porch, with an old pickup tailgate at an angle that would bounce the bullets into the sandbox.

We shot from the living room, through the dining room and kitchen onto the back porch. We used .22's and shot for quite a long time.

We had to open a door and run a fan to get the gunsmoke and smell out before the ladies got home. But we had plenty of time because it was a 45 minute drive just to Tucson City Limits.

That was once I did not get into trouble for shooting in the house.

Looking back I'm not sure why, I could have just gone outside. I guess just young boys having fun and seeing what we could get away with.

I think it was Gary that talking about shooting something outside from his living room... maybe the neighbors cat...

I had been trying to get him for weeks. He had a big den just across the road from my house....in he church's parking lot. We were renting the house they normally give to the minister, which they didn't have at that time. I had just built a custom XP-100 in 224 Weatherby and was anxious to try it out. One Saturday morning I noticed him out my front window. He was munching on clover in the church parking lot. The front door was open so I eased the front screen door open just a little, enough to I could see him clearly. There were no cars in the parking lot so I knew there was nobody there, plus the groundhog was off to one side, at least 15 feet off to one side of the church. I rolled up an old pair of jeans and laid down on my stomach pointing the gun thru the open screen door and when the groundhog raised his head I pulled the trigger. In all the excitement I forgot my wife was asleep in the bedroom. With the muzzle of the gun completely inside the house, it was a bit loud. My wife used some words I hadn't heard from her before. It was a pretty thorough description of my relatives and my lineage. But I did get the groundhog and shortly thereafter the church folks asked us to leave and my wife eventually started talking to be again. But I did get the groundhog.
