Reeder Custom Guns - Last April I ordered a 14"

7 GNR Contender barrel and received it shortly after. I knew exactly which bullet I wanted to shoot in it, and a quick call to Al at NOE was made. The mould was not in stock but he estimated a run in a few weeks. Fast forward to Nov.8th and the mould finally showed up.

Thank goodness for BIL Pat, he had two 7mm moulds from one of Gary's estate sales for his 7 TCU. I chose his Lyman 287346, a round nose 140 gr. design and it killed a lot of rock chucks last spring.

The next day after receiving the NOE mould I cast up 120 or so bullets to try out. I set aside 50 or so for Pat to try in his 7 TCU.

I had such good luck with IMR 4064 and the 346 bullet that that is what I wanted to try with this new casting. This is a NOE 288-135 F.P. with the H.P. pins. With an alloy of 50/50-WW/Pb, water dropped, sized, checked and lubed it weighs 133 grs.

This caliber bullet combination is going to be great on chucks next spring, or coyotes this winter if I can get my butt out to do some calling.

I've never tried a cast bullet in mine but have shot a few deer using Hornady SST 139gr.

I was curious as to what lube you are using as well as whether you are getting expansion from that hollowpoint or not? Thanks!

concoction that I have been using for quite awhile, it seems to work in all that I shoot it in.

With my varmint bullets I try for more of a nose shearing off and sending little pieces of lead radiating out from the bullet.

This is a picture of what my 300 GNR does and what I am hoping to do with the 7 GNR.

Oh, and by the way the lube recipe is no secret if you might be interested.

Shearing syndrome is interesting. I keep asking these questions because, over the years, I get answers I'd've never thought of or sometimes even believed, until I tried them.
One friend used only hollow-points as 50+ years of recorded data shows them to be statistically more accurate.
I smiled at your mentioning of the 300GNR. It is the only remaining wildcat that I still yearn for at my age. Just can't get up the umph to go that route yet one more time...

This lube is a spin off from MML with a few additions. This is a cooler or cold weather lube that works when I can do most of my shooting. I have taken it up into the 80's and low 90's and have seen a slight amount leading. Bore conditions seem to change around 60*.

3 lbs Beeswax
1-14 oz Tube Sta-Lube Extreme Pressure Moly-Graph Grease
1/2 lb lard
1/2 lb Paraffin
1/2 lb Microcrystalline Wax
4 oz Two Stroke Oil (Non Synthetic)
4 oz Dexron ATF

I am not a fan of paraffin so I have been cutting it from the mix and adding the cut amount of lard in. The next time I make this lube it will not have any paraffin and 1 lb of lard.

I have never tried it and I may not, but I think powder coating may be the way to go.
