I was walking around the Tulsa gunshow yesterday and a guy had 4 or 5 El Dorado or Seville single actions and they were nice so I ask the guy what he wanted and he said he was selling them as a set for $12,000! I just walked away shaking my head. I didn't know Seville's had become that valuable. The one and only one I had was a .357 Maximum and was a clunker.

THEY ARE WORTH WHAT

SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY. I HAD ELGIN GATES .375 TO TEST FOR AWHILE. FASTEST FLATTEST AND ONE OF THEMOST ACCURATE SIXGUNS I EVER SHOT IN LONG RANGE SILHOUETTES. 200M RAM WAS DOWN BEFORE I COULD SEE IT.

That's true I was just amazed at the price. On the one I had the cylinder wouldn't stay latched tight so you had to make sure it was lined up with the barrel everytime you cocked it. I had it fixed twice.

WHOMEVER FIXED IT

I'm not worried about it, it found a new home. I like my Rugers and Freedom Arms a lot better.

I'M NOT A BIG FAN EITHER BUT

That was the only single action I've owned that gave me trouble like that, the gunsmith that fixed it the last time told me the parts in it were too weak to turn a cylinder that long and heavy and it would continue to keep breaking the more it was used, he said it was a weak action and bad design. He said the Ruger maximum's were just tougher.

RUGER'S WERE DEFINITELY TOUGHER AND

BETTER. THE SEVILLE WAS MORE TRADITIONAL BUT NOT A BAD DESIGN.

I know Linebaugh built some of his early 5-shot .45's on Seville's because he said Ruger's quality wasn't as good.

I need to find that one, I think I have all the others about him from over the years.
